Proposal Automation Software FAQ's
What version of SQL Server can be implemented?
WebPro requires SQL Server 5 , SQL Server 2005 (Management Studio), SQL Server (Full Text Indexing), SQL Server (Agent).
Are there any special configurations needed for the server or database?
WebPro requires installation of an indexing utility, which runs as a service, that can be installed on any or multiple servers (uses SOAP). This does not require any configuration on the SQL Server.
What is the typical size of the database required?
The size of the initial SQL database is approximately 400-800MB (megabyte) depending on the amount of data imported during implementation.
What is the anticipated storage growth required for the database?
The anticipated growth depends on how much data is indexed over time. The largest reported customer database has been approximately 4GB (gigabytes) formed over a period of 10 years.
Is there a data purge process?
Yes. The Data Purge process is controlled by the Administrator role within the application itself.
What is the average number of databases, tables, views and stored procedures?
WebPro uses one database, and approximately 100 tables, including views and stored procedures per installation.
Can the database be stored on a shared server?
Yes. The database can be installed on a shared server.
Can the SQL Server database be a named instance?
Yes. The WebPro database can be located on a server with a named instance.
Is WebPro cluster aware?
Yes. WebPro is cluster aware with SQL Server failover cluster configured as either passive or active redundancy.
How do users access the database?
WebPro users access the SQL database via the application level only.
What types of authentication can be used for the SQL Server?
WebPro uses Windows authentication and authorization for client hosted installs and form-based Authentication for SaaS hosted models based on Imperative RBS.
What forms of access are required for the server and/or database?
The only special access required to the WebPro SQL database is during installation where a Systems Administrator, with subsequent privileges, is required to run scripts.
Are there any types of external data feeds?
There are no external data feeds required with WebPro.
Are there any types of data extracts?
There are no SQL requirements for data extract with WebPro. All data exporting is accomplished through the application itself and exported into CSV or XLS (Microsoft Excel) files.
Will the database administrator (DBA) be involved with vendor software installation?
The database administrator (DBA) will not need to be involved with installation of the WebPro application unless his or her role is part of the SQL installation process.
How much time with the database administrator (DBA) require to maintain the software?
The database administrators (DBA) time required to administer the software is minimal. All user roles and rights are controlled directly through the application by the Administrator.
Will users require individual accounts?
Since WebPro uses the Windows Authentication model, users will only need individual accounts. Subsequently, Windows Authentication will automatically populate the login screen with their domain credentials. Therefore, if they are not already a user of WebPro, they will be unable to enter the application.
What type of testing will be required before going live?
Testing will require business unit and internal IT personnel, while Proposal Software customer service representatives will be available to respond to questions or issues that may arise. Formal customer training can be obtained from Client Services as part of the implementation process.
Is there any special software required to be installed on the SQL server?
No additional software is required to be installed on the SQL server.
Is the database built via supplied scripts or via application installation?
WebPro requires the database to be built from supplied scripts.
